Manufacturers
We provide consulting services to manufacturers in the areas of research and development, education and training, and market research.
In the area of research and development, we leverage our vast experience in seating, wheeled mobility, transportation, and alternate controls to provide manufacturers invaluable information. We utilize our skills and knowledge in performance analysis, outcome measurements and evidence based practice to provide quantitative feedback to manufacturers as they progress through the development phases. Furthermore, the quantitative feedback allows the manufacturer to accurately position the products as it relates to the current standards of practice with a clear focus on evidence-based practice.
In the area of education and training, we collaborate with manufactures to provide continuing education and professional development to rehabilitation professionals (clinical setting and suppliers). We leverage our skills as instructors and our real-world clinical experience to develop courses that are relevant to rehabilitation professionals. We also leverage our vast technical knowledge and experience to create technically relevant programs for rehabilitation technology suppliers, with a focus on customization and integration of products across assistive technologies.
In the area of market research, we leverage our experience working with consumers and advocacy groups to obtain feedback from consumers. The participation of individuals with disabilities in the development of new and existing products is critical to meeting the functional and quality of life objectives. We leverage our experience as a researcher to define concrete and manageable projects with feasible goals and outcomes.
Rehabilitation Institutions, Programs and Agencies
We provide consulting services to out-patient and in-patient clinical programs and government agencies in the development of assistive technology and rehabilitation technology programs. The program development process closely follows the procedures for developing a business plan. For example, this includes the development of goals, marketing, budgets, and operations (e.g. space utilization, employees). Unique to the field of assistive technology and rehabilitation technology is the selection of appropriate quantitative tools and instrumentation (e.g. pressure mapping, Smart Wheel, force sensor, motion analysis), as well as developing the processes necessary to utilize the tools and instrumentation as part of evidence-based practice. The development of the programs also includes the selection of accessible furniture and evaluation equipment utilized during the service delivery process
